蜥木公園的前身建成于2000年悉尼奧運會之前，西悉尼公園信托機構委托McGregor Coxall對其重新進行設計并對公園設施進行拓展。委托包含公園的總體規劃制定以及規劃的細節設置和說明。具體被改造和拓展的區塊包括衛生間、燒烤同野餐設施、兒童游戲區，活動空間、橋以及一處全新大型停車場。場地的再設計以永續發展策略為依托，與所處的鄉野自然環境展開了細膩的對話。太陽能電池板為場地供電，引水沖廁，所有洗盥污水均被重復用于灌溉，可回收材料也被最大限度地應用于項目中。游戲區的改建再次彰顯了永續發展的理念，通過兒童游戲水泵引入循環水，設立水道系統打造獨特且寓教于樂的體驗。
